Announcing Fall 2023 Semester - In-person and Online!

No matter where you are in your recorder playing journey, Recorder Players West (RPW) is the right place for you! Are you looking to improve your skills (fingers, tongue, breath, rhythm, etc.) or to have the chance to play with others? Whatever your goal might be, our classes cater to different skill levels, ranging from pre-intermediate to advanced, and you will surely fit right in.

This session will be a blended on-line and in-person experience for the intermediate and advanced classes! Yes, local people will be able to come to St. Bede’s Episcopal Church for in-person classes, and on-line people will be able to join via Zoom! (The pre-intermediate class will remain on-line only.) St. Bede’s Episcopal Church is at 3590 Grand View Blvd., West Los Angeles, two blocks west of the 405 freeway and one block north of Venice Blvd. at the corner of Grand View and Charnock. There is plenty of free parking.

Our wonderful instructor (Inga Funck) is a professional recorder player – guaranteeing a gratifying musical experience! She always manages to make classes fun while helping each student to grow as musician. She  exposes students to a rich body of repertoire from different centuries, styles, and countries. Outside of Recorder Players West, she is offering private lessons as well as other classes independent of RPW.

Newcomers who have not been to a Zoom class with Inga yet will be given one free class before they have to decide whether or not to join.

Music will be sent via email -- no charge for copying music!

Pre-Intermediate Class

Thursdays, 12 noon to 1:00 pm PDT (1 hour class) on-line only

Class dates: October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16, 30

 

Intermediate Classes

Wednesdays, 12 noon to 1:30 pm PDT (90 minute class) at St. Bede's or on-line

Class dates: October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15, 29

and

Thursdays, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm PDT (90 minute class) on-line only

Class dates: October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16, 30

Advanced Class

Wednesdays, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm  PDT (90 minute class) at St. Bede’s or on-line

Class dates: October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15, 29

Please note: class times are Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) prior to November 5 and Pacific Standard Time (PST) after November 5.

Tuition

The tuition for Fall 2023 classes is $180 for the intermediate and advanced classes (or $157.50 if you are brand-new to Recorder Players West and are making use of the first free class).

For the pre-intermediate class, the tuition is $120 (or $105 for brand-new players).

To register please contact Suellen Eslinger before the start of the class. She will send you instructions about how to pay.

Please make sure to include your best email address so you can be sent the Zoom link and music before the class begins.

A limited number of tuition scholarships are available. To apply, please contact Suellen Eslinger.

Announcing Spring 2022 Semester

No matter where you are in your recorder playing journey, Recorder Players West is the right place for you! Are you looking to improve your skills (fingers, tongue, breath, rhythm, etc.) or to have the chance to play with others? Whatever your goal might be, our classes cater to different skill levels, ranging from pre-intermediate to advanced, and you will surely fit right in.

Due to COVID-19 circumstances, classes are held once more via Zoom. You will be playing duets with a professional recorder player (instructor Inga Funck) – guaranteeing a gratifying musical experience! Each class is 1.5 hours long and there are 10 classes in this session. If you are new to RPW, please fill out opens link in new window, so we may place you into the right class.

Teaching our classes will be Inga Funck, who always manages to make classes fun while helping each student to grow as musician. She is exposing students to a rich body of repertoire from different centuries, styles, and countries.
